After three years of development creating a publishing system for "ETH Life", the online journal of ETHZ (www.ethlife.ethz.ch/newcms), the time has come to open the sources to the public. To this event, I'd like to talk about how we did it, using Perl/AxKit as the basis, and especially go into details about the virtual filesystem part, which makes it possible to access the content through a virtual filesystem which can be served using ordinary file sharing services like Samba or FTP daemons. I'll describe the technical workings, show how file movements are being used to indicate workflow states, and how html templates are being used to enter articles.

In the remaining 10-15 minutes, I can show how AxKit can/has be used to implement the online part. I've talked with Michael Kroell (XiMS), if he is going to hold a presentation, he'll give a complementing view of AxKit.
