Managing Change in Web Services
Abstract:
As web services begin to "cross the chasm" and become a mainstream
technology used by organizations across the board, managing and
communicating changes to web services will be essential to ensuring that
these applications are not only effective and up-to-date, but also
practical. The foundation for this is configuration management. But web
services' distributed nature and use of third party services provide
unique configuration management challenges for organizations, such as
changes in security, interface, or implementation of 3rd party services.
This presentation will discuss how traditional approaches to configuration
management can be extended to address the issues involved in managing web
services and how the management of those web services can benefit
organizations implementing the technology.
Learning Objectives:
1. The challenges of implementing and maintaining these services
2. The role of configuration management in web services
3. How traditional techniques can help address the problems
4. Development that will address the issues in coordinating changes
